US Raises Tariff-free Solar Cell Import Quota to Help Domestic Module Industry :

The tariff-rate quota of imported solar cells will go up to 12.5 GW from 5 GW The U.S. has increased the volume of tariff-free solar cell imports to help domestic solar module manufacturers. Responding to a petition from the domestic industry last September and the report of the United States International Trade Commission, a White House notification said the tariff-rate quota (TRQ) of imported solar cells would go up to 12.5 GW from 5 GW. The tariff, however, will remain at 14.25%.

New solar array powers luxury apartments in Jersey City :

Luxury apartment complex Birch House announced the recent activation of a 154-kW rooftop solar system in Jersey City. This eco-friendly addition complements the property’s focus on wellness and luxury living.

Located just 20 minutes outside Manhattan, the property offers residents an oasis of upscale amenities with a reduced environmental footprint. With over 300 panels, the new solar system offsets 30% of Birch House’s energy consumption, primarily powering its communal spaces.

Alaska becomes latest state to legalize community solar :

On August 14, Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy signed legislation enabling community solar programs in the state. SB 152 will allow Alaskans to subscribe to community-owned solar arrays not located on their home or property, opening up clean energy access for the first time to the more than 260,000 Alaskans who live in rental housing and 79,000 who are living below the Federal poverty level.

NorSun to supply Heliene’s new US solar cell factory with silicon wafers :

Minnesota-based solar panel manufacturer Heliene announced last month it would partner with Premier Energies to manufacture silicon solar cells within the state, and now the company has a domestic wafer supply established after signing a multi-year contract with NorSun.

QuickBOLT debuts solar mount for various metal roof profiles :

The QB RibRider has an adjustable base that fits various rib widths, heights and angles, making it compatible with multiple roof profiles. It includes 75-mm factory-applied butyl pads for weatherproofing and a rotating L-bracket for mounting at 90 or 180°. RibRider is attached using screws that require low torque to secure to metal roof profiles.

EagleView aerial imaging integrates with Aurora Solar :

EagleView, an aerial imagery and analytics provider, is providing EagleView Powered models through the Aurora Solar platform to improve to assist solar designers in the residential market.

Solar professionals rely on 3D roof models to accurately predict final details of the project installation and solar electricity production output for homeowners. The quality of those 3D models is essential to reducing unnecessary costs in the solar install process, improving the speed of installations and building homeowner trust that the return on investment provided by solar PV systems will be accurate over time.

Nautilus re-ups partnership with EnergyMark for community solar management :

Nautilus Solar Energy announced it has extended its strategic partnership with EnergyMark, a Williamsville, New York-based energy supplier and solar subscription manager. After one year of a successful partnership, the two companies have expanded their deal from approximately 17 MW to 24 MW, increasing from seven projects to 10 projects in the National Grid utility territory. The partnership will be celebrated at the recently energized community solar farms in Grand Island, New York on September 4, 2024.
